The little Hielander was found on the ground about a kilometre from the local colony. He had a significant head injury with a head tilt to his right, little movement on his right side and none on his left. He still has a marked head tilt to his right side. He licks to his left side and gape yawns a lot (but that's improving). These are all head injury signs of frontal lobe damage on his right side.
He had a corneal abrasion on his right eye, a puncture/gash in his right shoulder and matching holes in his wing, suggesting he's been grabbed and dropped by a raptor.
He's now 14 weeks old and starting to get around more. He can use his left side but has little control.
He eats well and drinks well and has survived so I'm just supporting him to see how much function he gets back.
He has a long way to go.
