We present to you,
Coral larvae dispersal simulation in Pahang Coastal Waters
Yes, coral is an animal and releases larvae into the water column once a year during mass spawning events.
Some of them release larvae during the full moon in April (simulation on the left) while others wait for 10-11 days before they release larvae (simulation on the right)
Both simulations indicate ONE thing in common:
All simulated larvae may end up in our nearshore reefs in Kuantan coastal waters. Therefore, we might assume our uncharted, unknown nearshore reefs are the IDEAL sink region for coral larvae connectivity.
