When speaking to a crowd, you really need to develop the right public speaking tone of voice. In this video, I show you how to speak from your diaphragm so that you can project with plenty of volume and power.
If the crowd can’t hear your voice, they can never hear your message. If you stand up tall, stick your chest out, and take a breath, you’ll notice that your whole torso fills up with air. This is what will allow you to really put some power into your voice. It opens up all of your airways and allows you to relax.
When I started out I had some problems with projection because I would get nervous. Everyone gets nervous. But when I started getting nervous my heart would start beating fast and I would begin to slouch. When speaking to a crowd, you’ve got to maintain a good posture that supports a strong, clear, public speaking tone of voice.
Good posture will make learning how to speak from your diaphragm much easier. Plus, when you take a deep breath, it’ll help you to slow down and relax. You can actually slow your heart.
When you learn to take a deep breath, not only does it make your voice louder, it allows you to pause as well. It gives you time to pause and think about how fast you’re speaking. Are you talking in a nice relaxed pace or are you racing to the end of your speech?
Learning how to speak from your diaphragm is the key to finding that public speaking tone of voice that makes people listen. Before speaking to a crowd, take a deep breath. It’s an easy but effective way to ensure a great tone.
