Basic Head & Arm Defense in wrestling is key to keeping things like this from happening to you!
Your fundamental positioning needs to be in a stance where you can block opponents' takedown attempts with your head and arms. Many high-level, jujitsu players get in bad habits of maintaining very high stances, which leaves their hip/legs vulnerable to leg attacks. You can get away with a bit of a higher stance in jujitsu since shots are less explosive without wrestling shoes, but there needs to be a balance. If you’re going against a very explosive opponent, you generally want to maintain a lower stance to defend against takedowns.
To balance that lower stance, it’s important to develop good guillotine defense, and how to escape front Headlocks effectively.
