Automatic Economy: system calculates instantaneous cruising fuel consumption and switches into the most economical gear.
Manual: user assigns a custom RPM range within which the system will attempt to maintain.
Automatic Aggressive: the system records the engines power band and switches gears to maximize acceleration.
This is a graduating year PROOF OF CONCEPT project completed by Patrick Kowalski and myself. Until further refinement is desired, the project will remain as is.
Purpose: to give those with an injury or sustained disability a tool to help them ride again. Also, because it records real-life instantaneous acceleration, fuel consumption, RPM and time it can provide a graphical / quantifiable means of improving ones performance. E.g. When to shift in a quarter mile? Does 91 give better mileage than 87 octane? Did that oil change / full exhaust / modification significantly improve economy or acceleration? What changes in riding style get me through that corner faster?
