I will be discussing three strategies for teaching poetry in middle school.

1. Start small with having students read, collect, and respond to poetry.
2. Have fun with specialty poems like book spine poetry, blackout poetry, and sandwich poetry
3. Notice what famous poets do and have students mimic techniques in their poetry.
