Secret Way to Instantly Identify Items for Free
On pc you can hold control then Left Click on The Hooded One to instantly identify your entire inventory. The Hooded One is unlocked a few hours into progressing the game and saves you from otherwise having to use Scrolls of Wisdom. He also allows you to refund passives, effectively letting you change your build. You’ll want to do this earlier than later since as you level up the cost of refunding passives goes up. So experiment early on, try different skills to see which ones you like, and then build around those skills. You can also use the search feature on the passive skill tree to see where nodes you want are located by using keywords like Physical, Minion, or Cold depending on what skills you’re using. Once you type in a keyword all the nodes will start pulsing with light that contains that keyword, and you can see which keywords to search for by mousing over your skills.


Secret Way to Increase Rare Loot Drops
And next up is a secret method to increase rare loot drops. You can do this by farming the bosses you’ve already beaten. For some reason it looks like these bosses have a much higher drop chance for good items. On the first kill, I’ve rarely seen good items. On a second kill, I’ve consistently seen good items drop. So if you’re looking to upgrade your gear, go back and start farming past bosses that you’ve defeated and you’ll definitely start seeing some gear drop. Also, if you ever die at the same time as the boss you're fighting and you see rare or unique items drop, those will be gone if you revive at the nearest checkpoint. Instead, ask a friend to come revive you so that you don’t lose the loot.


Town Portal Faster
And next up is how to town portal faster! To do this, bind a key to create your town portal. If you hit escape and go to options, then Input, scroll to the bottom and bind a key to Create a Portal. Since you’re using town portals so frequently, you should set a key to easily cast it. Using my hearthstone in world of warcraft is bound to ALT + Q, so I set that to the same keybind for path of exile 2.


Use ANY Support Gem
And next up is a common mistake most players make - only choosing from the recommended support gems. You can actually choose any support gem. When you use an uncut support gem you’ll see a couple options of support gems to engrave for a given skill. But these aren’t your only options. If you click all gems in the bottom left you can see ALL your options. Obviously not every support gem makes sense for every skill, but your best choice isn’t always one of the recommended options and you should definitely see what’s available under the All Gems tab before engraving your support gem. And remember, you can only use one of each support gem, so make sure you’re using them wisely on the skills where they are most effective. And even though at first you only have 2 slots for support gems at first, as you progress you will unlock more support gem slots, letting your skills get much stronger over time.


Hidden Trick for Passive Nodes
And next up is a hidden trick for passive nodes. You can actually see how a passive affects you by holding down shift on passive nodes to see what it affects. This can help you make your decision on whether or not you want to get the node, or start progressing towards another node. You also might be surprised that a node affects the skill much more positively, or negatively than you thought by using this. You can also hold down ALT if you’re ever confused on a keyword such as Stun Threshold or Recoup, which lets you mouse over that keyword.
