A CT Scan uses x-rays to generate images of the human body.
The patient lies on a table and is passed through a tube-like device. The CT Scan rotates around the table, passing x-rays through the body in a continuous motion.
Radiologists at Wake Forest Baptist Health can adjust those images to view specific internal structures like bones, soft tissues or organs.
Dr. Wendell S. Myers says a CT Scan can take several minutes, depending on what is being scanned and why.
