My name is Martin and I am currently on a pilgrimage on the Way of St. James from Tallinn to Santiago de Compostela, which I hope to reach this autumn. At the moment, I have reached the wonderful country of Lituania. This is an appeal for donations.
It's not easy for me to ask you for money but I have to.

I am a free-lance journalist from Cologne, Germany. I have been filming the actions of the climate justice movement and the animal rights movement since the end of 2017 and documenting them on my YouTube channel, which has 5300 videos and 5600 subscribers: from the World Climate Conference in Bonn to Hambach Forest, Dannenröder Forest and Lützerath to the demonstrations and occupations of Fridays for Future and Extinction Rebellion.

It is a constant burden for me to see how old and young people who want to protect life on Earth courageously, sacrificially and peacefully oppose the fossil fuel industry and the animal industry, while these powerful and rich industries are doing everything they can to prevent the transition to a sustainable world and continue to pursue their deadly business: Police and judicial repression, corrupt politicians, manipulation of public opinion through bought media and so on. I am particularly shocked that an alliance of "conservative" parties and the brown pack is forming against the sustainable transformation of our society. At the same time, the climate and ecological catastrophe is becoming more and more obvious.
I started the long pilgrimage across Europe because I needed a break. I was not as productive any more as I used to be. There were moments when I actually wanted to edit and upload videos and sit at my PC, but then I somehow got a blockage in my head and did not do it after all. There's so much going on at the moment and sometimes I can't keep up.
I am following the Way of St James from Tallinn in Estonia to Spain, once across Europe: Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Germany, Luxembourg, France, Spain to Cap Finisterre. All on foot. A sustainable journey there and back without an aeroplane, of course. I am documenting with video on the ground and from the drone.

Unfortunately, I've already used up my financial reserves. I will be travelling for about 7 months. I can’t do with less than 20 euros a day for food and accommodation, so I'm asking for your help. After that, I want to get back to my documentation work, because there is still a long way to go before we achieve a more just and sustainable society.
