First, here is a post master available at Home Depot and Lowe’s
The second item is a post driver, bought from Amazon or rented from Home Depot.
So the total cost for each post is less than the cost of digging a hole and two bags of concrete.
The following will show you how to set a post master.
Using the post driver, it can be pounded 4 feet underground. The depth of the postmaster needs to be lower than the frost line in your area.
In my area, the frost line is around 38 inches, so I need to pound the post by at least 38 inches.
Here is a demonstration of how to drive the post 42 inches to the ground with a manual post driver.
Every time we pound this post, we check two bubble levels to make sure it is completely vertical.
For 42 inches deep, it takes less than 6 minutes for each post.
As you may know, if there is no metal cap for the postmaster, the tip of the postmaster can be bent like this.
However, the post is still very straight and strong.
In order to avoid bending at the tip, you can use a metal cap or thick metal piece.
However, this bending doesn’t affect the construction of this fence and will eventually be covered by wood at the end.
