I received my 2008 Toyota rav4 back from Toyota. They said that they replaced the pistons, rings, gaskets, and oil and filter. You will see in the video the list of parts. It took this dealer one day to replace these parts. This was all at no charge.
I did find a technical service bulletin that says "APPLICABLE WARRANTY This repair is covered under the Toyota Power train Warranty. This warranty is in effect for 60 months or 60,000 miles, whichever occurs first, from the vehicle’s in-service date.•Warranty application is limited to occurrence of the specified condition described in this bulletin."
I found this online and wasn't told any of this at the dealer when I picked up the vehicle.
Update:
Unfortunately on Monday Feb 22nd 2016 I was involved in a accident and they totaled the rav4 out. I was able to shut down the rav4 for the last time with 186,000 miles on it and it didn't burn any oil at all. It ran great after the work was done. I will most likely go back to Toyota and see if I can purchase another Toyota because they did stand behind there product.
