I watched for a few minutes a large black Queen Bumblebee with a bright red tail exploring the rough grassland on the on the edge of Lumley copse, presumably looking for a suitable site for a nest to lay eggs. I took a few photos and managed a video clip.
Identification - possibly Bombus lapidarius which Bryan Pinchen says is one of the most common species, being widespread across most of the country
