The annual RENNSport Rally is an annual event based out of the Fontana Village Resort near Robbinsville, North Carolina. Open to those involved in RENNSport and also the Porsche Club. This years rally was on June 2-4, 2023. This video involves the first day only. Friday. An incredible route of some of the best driving roads in America. The Tail Of The Dragon, Cherohala Skyway, and The Foothills Parkway.
Leaving out from the resort after a drivers meeting, the route began on a road called Voldemort. Then off to the Skyway, the Foothills Parkway, over and back, and then finishing on the Dragon. A lunch break was in the middle, two fuel stops, and some absolutely unbelievable scenery thru the mountains.
I was asked to come up by my friend Nancy and decided I would be the navigator. The ride and event are amazingly professional. Communication is paramount, multiple groups of about 10 cars, constant radio communication, and everyone stays together.
The speeds thru the mountains were amazing. Curves at 50mph, straight speeds at over 70, and top speed for us coming down the Parkway was 102mph. All this in an SUV! Nancy has a beautiful Porsche Cayenne SUV which is the best I have ever ridden in.
Everyone should experience this event. And especially visit this area. The TOTD store is featured at the beginning of the video. Plus the Motorcycle Resort at Deals Gap with the famous Tree Of Shame. As well as the resort and village at Fontana.
