What is TEMPO anyway? The great philosophical question of our time. Well, in this video I answer it while showcasing the first 12 weeks of my 18 week marathon block for the Houston Marathon.

It's broken into 3 Four Week blocks, which happen to be September, October and November. It's a good example of how to build running fitness through progressive overload.

The training is prescribed by pace, though I do keep track of heartrate. I did my best to keep this video moving and not get too bogged down in the details. I give examples of types of running workouts from 5k, threshold, tempo, to easy runs and strides. I shot this over Thanksgiving break. Next week is a tune up race for the San Antonio Rock N Roll Marathon. So, the next video will cover those fitness tests to see how this training is paying off.
I will not be bringing the GoPro ala Kofuzi style. I likely will not even pull out my phone like Matt Choi or Floberg. I'm just going to run it like....a runner. Maybe I'll even run faster?
