How I fixed my Spider Clutch Bearing after it failed on my last ride out, you can see this in my video 'No Lancashire Hotpot Today'.

PLEASE NOTE - THIS IS NOT PERFORMED BY A PROFESSIONAL OR EVEN AN AMATEUR! I found out about this by using YouTube and Rocky Mountain Forums, I also used the incorrect grease, as I did not have any so decided on using the thinnest one I had at the time.

AMENDED ORDER: PLEASE DO THE WD-40 FIRST, THEN APPLY THE BRAKE CLEANER. I got this the wrong way round 🤦🏻‍♂️

I fully welcome any advice, I am still learning and this is my first time attempting something a bit more in depth as this service required.

Anyway, back on to the main topic I wanted to see if I could service and fix my spider clutch bearing, saving me time and money. Whilst improving my mechanical knowledge along the way. Progression is not just riding, but learning about your bike as well.

I cannot confirm if this works for you if your spider clutch is slipping, this was when mine would not dis engage the chain ring when pedalling backwards, resulting in the chain becoming snagged and in turn meaning I could not position my pedals when riding downhill.

So I put this walk through together of how I completed this, a step by step guide of how I did it.

Tools used in this video:

- 16 Notch Spline to BB tool [ Ссылка ]
- 3mm & 8mm Allen Keys
- Brake cleaner
- WD 40 (Leave this to dry after application so as not to destroy the grease)
- Grease (Should be PPL-2, I used the thinnest I had) [ Ссылка ]
- Chain tool
- Loctite

End result it works a treat, I also learnt that I need to look after this more often, by the amount of grime and dirt in there. Not surprised though with the recent weather, and now know how to work on this.
