Afghanistan is building a canal out of the Amu Darya River which will divert 20% of its water. The name of the canal is Qosh Tepa Canal and it is the biggest project of the Taliban-led Afghanistan Government so far.
The problem however is that Uzbekistan as well as Turkmenistan benefit from the water of Amu Darya. That is why both these countries have reservations over the Qosh Tepa Canal.
