Nobody can accuse her of being an underachiever. In fact, she's quite the opposite. She is one of the most acclaimed and celebrated actresses of her generation. She's been nominated for six Oscars - of which she won one, 13 Golden Globes - winning two, and six Emmys -winning two more.

Almost everyone in the Redgrave family is also an actor but clearly, Vanessa is the one that is the most applauded of her brood. Both of her late siblings, Lynn and Corin, were both actors as well. So was her daughter Natasha Richardson before she died in 2009 following a ski accident. Vanessa's other daughter Joely Richardson has also dabbled in acting over the years.

And in case you were wondering, yes, she enjoys special British royal honors. Both Vanessa and her father, Michael Redgrave, both received the honorific title of CBE or Commander of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire.
