"Lost Without Your Love" is one of my all-time favorite love songs from one of the greatest soft rock bands to ever walk the face of this earth, "Bread." "Lost Without Your Love" was released in January 1977 and was said to be their last hit single. The band made their final tour in 1977.

Bread, a "super" popular pop/soft rock American band of the late 60's and the 70's , was formed in 1968 (Yes, I am a big fan of "Bread" and I must use the terminology "super" for this band).The band members consisted of five very talented musicians, David Gates, Jimmy Griffin, Robb Royer, Mike Botts, and Larry Knechtel. The band really defined the sound of the early 70's, the truly romantic and beautiful love songs that seem to surpass the music of all generations.

In the early 70's, almost every day, you could hear their signature songs play on the U.S. Top 40 radio. i.e. "If," "Everything I Own," "Make It With You," "It Don't Matter To Me," "Baby I'm-A Want You," and "The Guitar Man."

Have you ever wondered how did this so-romantic band come up with such an interesting name "Bread" for their band? I did wonder and I also did speculate some silly things... too silly that I won't say it here. :)

As was told by one of the band members, Royer: after a sleepless night driving about Los Angeles, CA, to find inspiration and ideas for the name of their band, they happened to pull up behind a Barbara Ann Bread truck at a traffic light. "I went, 'Bread!  That's it!'" Royer says.  "I called up David with the name, and he said, 'Nah, we'd better keep looking.'  But then at an Elektra meeting, I mentioned it, and Bill Harvey (the label's art director) jumped up, slapped the table, and said, 'I like it...everybody's pretending that they're so oblivious to money, so let's have a band called Bread.'"

Hmmm... Although the band is not of my generation, I love the music of "Bread" the romantic soft rock band, and so I don't really mind if the name doesn't sound anything romantic...
