On Monday, July 6, 2020, Zachariah Lee Bensing (aka Zak and Uncle Buck), loyal and loving son, brother, uncle, nephew, cousin and friend to many passed away at the age of 26. Zak was born on June 21, 1994. He graduated from Stayton High School and left for Colorado to work on the pipeline. After 8 months, Zak returned to his family and hometown. Next, he worked at JELD-WEN in Stayton before finding his dream job. For the last four years he worked at North Santiam Paving with his dad, uncle, cousin and friends. Zak was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Lee and Bonnie Bensing and his maternal grandparents, Jimmy and Genevieve Davis.
Zak had a fierce love and commitment to his family and friends. This was demonstrated in countless ways but perhaps most clearly in his active participation in raising Jaxson. He fully embraced his role as an uncle and became a father figure to his most loved nephew. Zak also enjoyed hunting, guns, country music, and fireworks. He was known for his infectious smile, great attitude, tremendous generosity, and incredible sense of humor.
Zak is survived by his dad Jeff, his mother Jennifer, his sister, roommate and confidant Jessica, his nephew and buddy Jaxson, and many cousins and friends.
