Session 5 of Commonwealth Food Futures 2022 showcased the pioneering work being done by African women to transform food systems across the continent.
The keynote speech was delivered by Councillor Mpho Phalatse, executive mayor of Johannesburg, the city's first democratically elected woman.
Panelists included Dr Edna Adan, former Somaliland Foreign Minister, Balance Phala, manager for the Aquaculture Services Department at eThekwini Municipality in Durban, and Catherine Mzumara, based in Malawi, who is executive director of Women In Sustainable Agriculture.
The session was moderated by journalist and BBC Radio 4 The Food Programme presenter Leyla Kazim.
