Jacques Saade started with the idea of container ship. He was an early believer in container ship, which was an American invention. Malcolm McLean is often credited as The Father of Container Ship. In 40 years, he build the third biggest shipping company in the world, with about 500 vessels in 160 countries. In 1978, he escaped the Lebanese Civil War by moving from Lebanon to Marseilles, France, where he started a new industry.
At age 41, he has global ambition. He grow his company by merger and acquisition. His is a family business. In 2017, at the age of 80, he transferred chairman and CEO of CMACGM to his son Rodolphe Saade.
He always invests in cutting edge technology. In 2011, he started building the world's first LNG powered container ship. The next technology for CMACGM is air transport, which the company began in 2021.
