Reason to travel to Myrdal is the simple fact that I had seen so many nice videos about Myrdal, that I wanted to go there, and take a look. In my former videos I travelled to Finse, also on the same route. The landscapes between Geilo and Finse are absolutely awesome. Epic.
The landscapes between Finse and Myrdal: I expected at least even more spectacular views, since the nature next to the Bergensbanen is even more wild there.
It was therefore a disappointment, to experience the so many tunnels between Finse and Myrdal, that there was hardly time to activate the camera, and film, before another snow tunnel or mountain tunnel was entered, and all became black again.
Arriving at Myrdal was interesting, it is not an ordinary railway station: it is a small area between two tunnels, in a fantastic mountainous landscape.
It is worth it to travel to Myrdal because of the peace, the silence, the walking and hiking possibilities, and for the experienced bikers is there the Rallarvegen. It is even possible to rent a bike at the station.
The most of the train passengers change train in Myrdal, to continue their journey to Flåm, with the famous Flåmsbanen. This is one of my wishes for another time.
It is possible to bike to Flåm, to hike to Flåm, or to walk to Flåm, as well. Distance Myrdal-Flåm: 21 kilometers.
