It is autumn and, theoretically, it is the season when Dendrobium nobile canes are mature. How to know when they have matured? What if they did not mature until now?

A mature Dendrobium cane is recognizable by looking at the top portion. If there are no more leaves forming and instead you can see a round nubbin, the cane has matured.
At this point the rest can start to be induced. But what if the orchid did not stop growing until now? well we still need to water and fertilize until all the canes are mature.
My orchids are terribly off season due to the prolonged summer I have here. We can still hit 34 degrees Celsius in the day time. Thus I have all stages of growth on mine at the moment.
In time they will adapt to the environment, provided you do offer seasonal variations. If these variations don;t occur, particularly the winter one, you can end up with a brand new cane starting to grow in winter. It will take longer to grow, it will have less light available and will possibly be a smaller growth than usual.
