Bakalia, 05 July'2021: Illicit felling of trees and its supply still unabated in the entire Karbi Anglong districts. In the latest development, one tata mobile truck fully loaded with 'teak' trees was caught and seized by the forest department during a night patrolling on Saturday.
Like every night, the joint patrolling was conducted by Havarkimi Beat office, Patradisha Beat office and Langmili beat office along with their personnel.
On July 03 around 1.00 am, the joint team heard the sound, something which was suspectable, immediately they visited the spot wherein they found one tata mobile truck was fully loaded with teak trees. The said location was near Koilari bridge.
The beat officer, as asked by the media, told that grabbing the opportunities in the dark those perpetrators were attempting to supply the forest property.
Meanwhile, when the joint forest team reached the place, we found that the truck was parked in the dark side leaving its key in the tata mobile itself.
At that time, the illegal supplier was already retreated and ran away, therefore we couldn't spot those perpetrators, he added.
Later, the forest team brought the tata mobile from Koilari bridge to the Langmili forest beat office.
As told, until then they didn't undertake any official steps and yet not measured how many cft. of those cut-down trees which were seized.
On the other hand, since no supplier was found at the spot and so it's untraceable who have done such illegal activities, officials further mentioned.
The forest beat officer also told that after measuring the seized teak trees and other official works are done, a detailed report will be submitted to the head office in Diphu.
During the joint patrolling, Patradisha Beat officer Welson Rongphar, Havarkimi beat officer Binong Teron and Langmili beat officer Agustine Teron and other forest personnel were present.
Furthermore, the joint forest team also appealed through the media that whosoever it may be, one must stop such illegal supply of forest and natural resources in order to save our pristine environment.
