The US has around 750 military bases across 80 countries. This includes bases or troops strategically placed in conflict or neighbouring zones as part of NATO support and to act as a “deterrence” from further escalations. In the Middle East about 40,000 US soldiers are stationed and thousands more are expected to be deployed there. Sina Azodi from George Washington University explains.
