The other name for the tape I prefer to use is Washi tape, which is rice paper tape. Normal painters tape as shown in the video is around 0.12mm thick, while washi is 0.8mm thick.
Disclaimer: Please, DO NOT USE things super adhesive like duct tape, box tape etc, you will potentially damage your PCB by pulling components off, and if that doesnt happen, you will be left with nasty pieces of tape and adhesive residue; ALSO please do not use conductive tapes, you are asking for short circuits. Please, use your head when applying this mod, its low risk with tape that is deigned to be easily removed, but if you have to ask if a certain tape you have is too sticky, its probably no good for this mod.
Here is how I found the mod. I was trying the AI03 flex cut taping, but found it didn't make much sound difference when JUST taping the cuts in one of my boards, so I used wider tape and got a NOTICEABLE difference. so I taped a 5degree build to eliminate variables and it blew my mind, thing has no flex cuts and it still worked.
