Antigua Bread is owned and operated by Ernie Perez, Miguel Hernandez, and Dennis Hernandez. Originally from Guatemala City, Erika Perez and her brothers Miguel and Dennis grew up in the bakery their grandfather opened in Guatemala circa 1961.
When the three siblings left Guatemala in 1990 as teenagers, they dreamed of opening their own bakery in Los Angeles with their family’s recipes as the menu.
In 2007, 17 years after arriving in the U.S., their dream was finally realized. Miguel, Dennis, Erika, and Erika’s husband Ernie opened the first Antigua Bread on Figueroa Street with the help of their sister Claudia.
Today, just seven years later, the family owns the building for the original Bakery, a second location in El Sereno and a burrito restaurant.
