We are thrilled to invite into the Friday Feature Artist studio this week Fibre Sculptor specialing in encaustic and mixed media, Anna Wagner-Ott.

Anna’s intricately woven grids see her refashion threads and different types of white cotton fabrics that she then covers with wax or acrylic paint. The delicate and complicated layers and dimensions created by Anna’s works reflect and explore the feelings of being trapped under different forms of coverings.

“At times my weavings contain tight threaded links ​that are stiff, unyielding and no longer represent a safe and warm place to hide under. Then at other times, the segments are so dense that little light can penetrate. A symbiotic relationship between yarns, colours, patterns, textures, light and shadows.”

Anna has had numerous solo exhibitions and participated in juried/invitational shows in Canada and the USA, and is now a full-time artist after teaching for more than 20 years.
