Porvorim Police raid illegal cricket betting racket. 12 accused arrested.
Laptops, mobile phones, routers worth Rs, 2,00,000/- seized.
Porvorim Police on 17/08/2023 raided a hotel and arrested 12 persons who were running illegal online cricket betting racket.
A reliable information was received from a source informing that some persons are running illegal online cricket betting by accepting bets from public in the ongoing T20 cricket match between New Zealand v/s UAE. As per the information a police team was formed which raided a room in Hotel Mantry at Porvorim, Bardez - Goa and during the raid 12 persons were caught red handed while they were accepting bets. During the raid 10 mobile phones, laptops, WIFI
Router etc all W/Rs. 2,00,000/- have been seized by the police.
The accused persons have been identified as 1. Mr. Sanjay Subba n/o New Delhi
2. Mr. Karan Rajesh Patil n/o Akola, Maharashtra, 3. Mr. Naveen Batra N/o Raipur Chattisgarh 4. Mr. Varinder Singh N/o Bilaspur Chattisgarh 5. Mr. Amit More N/o Akola Maharashtra 6. Mr. Ankit Kumar N/o Dhanbad Jharkhand 7.
Mr. Suraj Nagdev N/o Raipur, Chattisgarh 8. Mr. Kishan Poptani N/o Raipur Chattisgarh 9. Mr. Tilesh Kumar Kurrey N/o Rakja sakti, Chattisgarh 10. Mr.
Shrey Sharma N/o Raipur Chattisgarh 11. Mr. Ashish Mantry N/o Jaipur
Rajasthan and 12. Mr. Ritesh Jaiswal S/o N/o Mohan garden, West Delhi.
An FIR under sections 3 and 4 of The Goa Daman & Diu Public Gambling Act, 1976 has been registered.
The entire raid was conducted under the supervision of SDPO Porvorim Vishwesh Karpe by a team consisting of PI Sachin Yadav IPS of Porvorim PS, IPS Vikas, PSI Pratik Bhatprabhu, constables Yogesh Shinde, Mahadev Naik, Utkarsh Dessai and Nitesh Gaude.
