I posted a new blog post for the series called "Painting of the Day." This week, the post is about the painting called Splashes 01, which is currently on exhibition at the Paper Gallery in Manchester, UK.
I created the first Splashes painting in 2020, as I wanted to experiment with different materials and surfaces. I decided to use very delicate, soft, and semi-transparent rice paper and sumi ink for this painting. It is almost as if I was going against the rules and roughness I’m familiar with in oil painting because the sumi ink integrates with and is absorbed by the surface of the rice paper. It becomes a part of its DNA, if that makes sense.
It's best if you see the painting yourself. Check out the painting and blog post here: [ Ссылка ]
