The University of Alabama-Birmingham is shutting down its football program. Now we're hearing the emotional responses from players as they let President Ray Watts know what they think of the decision.
"My 3-year-old, what am I supposed to explain to him? He's been to every game, no matter the distance, no matter the distance he's been to every game. What am I supposed to tell him? What am I supposed to look him in the face and tell him?" said senior tight end Tristen Henderson. "There are 18 year olds in here, 17 year olds. What are they supposed to do? Some of these guys came from 3,000 miles away to play here to be apart of this. To be apart of all of this, but your saying the numbers? The numbers?"

Watts said the cuts were because of the rising operating costs, to the tune of $49 million over the next five years.
Students have been protesting the decision, even before it was officially made, hoping to keep the program.
UAB is the first major college football program to be shut down in nearly 20 years.
