The opening sequence picks up right where Landman episode 7 ended, as Cooper butts heads with Rebecca (Kayla Wallace) over the money being offered to Ariana (Paulina Chavez) after her husband's death. An intense standoff ensues, with Tommy's son demanding $1 million per family, laying out how he has the upper hand, rightfully identifying the money as a settlement payoff. This gets under Rebecca's skin, making her start to question if he was directly involved in the deaths of Ariana's husband and her two other family members (something only we and Cooper know isn't the case)
