Why did Palpatine Despise Lightsabers?

Palpatine was one of the best duelists of the Skywalker saga. Even among the Sith, he was recognised as extremely talented with a Lightsaber. However, despite his skill, Palpatine hated using a lightsaber. He believed that he had outgrown them as he was powerful enough to use the dark side as his weapon. He saw the Lightsaber as a weapon of the past and of the weak Jedi. He therefore mastered lightsaber combat and designed the most elegant saber in order to mock the Jedi and prove to his light side opponents that the sith were superior in every way, even in the art of the Lightsaber.
