In 2020, 15% of LGBTQ+ Americans avoided or postponed necessary medical care due to fears of disrespect or discrimination, while 12% reported having to teach their provider about their community to get adequate treatment.
At One Medical, we know that while LGBTQ+ individuals share many of the same health needs as straight or cisgender people, numerous barriers often prevent them from getting the care they deserve. Our team, including Portland provider Dan O’Neill, MD hopes to change that.
As an openly gay man himself, Dan draws on his own experiences to build strong relationships with patients and create safe, nonjudgmental environments where they can feel free to be their most authentic selves. Thanks for helping us make primary care more inclusive, Dan.
