The Uttrakhand Food Festival at Mussoorie Winterline Carnival 2024, offered a vibrant celebration of Uttarakhand’s culinary traditions, blending the efforts of home cooks and professional chefs to present a feast of flavours. Anubhav joined the festivities as a celebrity guest and experienced the region's rich gastronomic heritage.
The journey began with a traditional thali prepared by women from a local Self-Help Group. The carefully curated spread included Dal Ke Pakode, Swala, Mandua Ki Roti, Aske, Dal Ki Badil, Kandali Ka Saag, and Jhangore Ki Kheer. Each dish reflected the expertise and heartfelt efforts of the women, who used locally sourced ingredients to recreate time-honored recipes.
Next, he explored another delightful spread, featuring Red Rice, Gahat Ki Dal, Palak Ki Kafuli, Aalu Ke Gutke, and Jhangore Ki Kheer. The dishes showcased the diversity of Uttarakhandi cuisine.
The experience continued with unique creations like Ragi Momos and Kumaoni Soup. These dishes brought a modern twist to traditional ingredients, reflecting the evolving yet rooted culinary culture of the region.
At Pankaj Ji’s shop, Anubhav was treated to a stunning spread served on a silver platter. This special presentation enhanced the experience, celebrating the elegance of Uttarakhand’s culinary heritage.
The mini food walk concluded with Singori and Jhangore Ki Burfi, beautifully leaving a sweet and lasting impression.
The festival not only showcased the authentic flavours of Uttarakhand but also celebrated the dedication and artistry of the people who brought these dishes to life.
