NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- The walls accounting firm Dodd Drennan and Associates contain photographs of famous clients like Mel Tillis.
"The majority of our clients are music industry related," said owner Melinda Drennan.
Five years ago Drennan moved the business to the 1200 block of 16th Avenue South to be closer to those clients.
The building she's in used to hold a publishing house that once produced 14 number one hits.
The building to the left of it has similar music history and the one to the right is one of the few remaining pre-war apartment buildings.
Developers want to demolish all three to build 16th Avenue Apartments complete with 135 units.
"When you see everything being torn down and it goes into apartments and condos that's not what makes Nashville Nashville," said Drennan.
Drennan isn't the only one worried about history.
Robbie Jones is with Historic Nashville Inc, a group dedicated to preserving historic buildings.
Much like the recent fight over Studio A, Jones believes the future of Music Row hangs on preserving buildings like the ones on 16th Avenue South.
"Music Row is a part of our history that's made Nashville Nashville. We're the it city because of our Music Industry. Other cities Charlotte, Atlanta, Dallas would love to have that component in their history," said Jones.
It remains to be seen if that argument will stop the development.
The Metro Planning Department recommended approving it with conditions citing the need for "additional housing options."
The full Planning Commission will vote on the development Thursday night.
Ultimately it will be approved or rejected by Metro Council.
