The field of application for contact pressure gauges, thermometers with switch contacts and mechanical pressure and temperature switches is very diverse. Their job, basically, is to monitor limit values in pressure and temperature measurement. If a previously defined value is exceeded or is dropped below, a signal is sent which either triggers an alarm or switches off a process. But how do contact pressure gauges actually differ from pressure switches or how do thermometers with switch contacts differ from temperature switches?
➡ Advantages: Contact pressure gauges and thermometers with switch contacts
Contact pressure gauges or thermometers with switch contacts can be read directly on-site. Switch points can be easily set using the adjustment key fixed to the cable socket. Depending on the application, these pressure and temperature measuring instruments are fitted with different contacts.
- Magnetic snap-action contact: Universal application under almost all conditions
- Inductive contact: Application in Ex zones 1 and 2
- Electronic contacts: Direct switching of smaller voltages and currents, particularly suitable for PLC applications etc.
- Reed contact: Contact studs are insulated within glass and are therefore particularly suitable for corrosive environments
➡ Advantages: Mechanical pressure switches or temperature switches
Mechanical pressure switches and temperature switches have a particularly robust design and are also suitable for use in group II hazardous areas to Ex d. In mechanical pressure and temperature switches, micro switches which are particularly suited to high electrical loads are built in. Thus, processes can be controlled directly, e.g. pumps can be switched on or off. A further advantage is the adjustable hysteresis of micro contacts. With these, two switch points can be controlled via just one contact.
