Soggy weather continues along the eastern North Island today and into Thursday, with more rain expected to add to what’s already fallen. A Heavy Rain Watch remains in place for Tairāwhiti/Gisborne and Hawke’s Bay until 8pm Thursday, with the added chance of thunderstorms.
As Thursday rolls on, rain spreads onto Marlborough, Canterbury, and eastern Otago, marking the start of a wet couple of days along the eastern South Island. Tasman and Buller might see the odd shower later on Thursday, with Friday bringing an increased chance of showers to the region.
Meanwhile, the sunniest spots on Thursday will be Westland and Fiordland. Southland and inland Otago can also look forward to long sunny spells, interspersed with patches of cloud.
