APRIL Group, a member of RGE group of companies, collaborated with the WBCSD – World Business Council for Sustainable Development to organise a screening of Frontier Sumatra in Singapore. The event took place as part of the WBCSD's inaugural members event in the Asia Pacific region and was attended by over 70 council members. Frontier Sumatra, which premiered on Discovery Asia Channel, showcases the captivating tale of the people, wildlife, and landscapes of the Kampar Peninsula in Riau province, Sumatra, Indonesia. The documentary film primarily focuses on Restorasi Ekosistem Riau (RER), a forest ecosystem restoration project initiated by APRIL in 2013. RER's objective is to safeguard more than 150,000 hectares of peatland rainforest, an area twice the size of Singapore, along the eastern coast of Sumatra.
During the screening, Brad Sanders, Head of Operations for RER, highlighted the project's immense scale and ambitious goals. Following the film, Craig Tribolet, Head of Sustainability Operations at APRIL Group, participated in a dynamic panel discussion where he shed light on APRIL's motivations for establishing the RER and expressed their unwavering dedication to one of the most extensive forest restoration initiatives in the region.
