The tax would fund maintenance and public services, with costs shared by visitors and residents.The considerable bulk of these costs will continue to be borne by local residents though.
The bill currently proposes 75p per person, per night for those staying in hostels and on campsites. A £1.25 tax would be charged per person, per night to people staying in all other accommodation types.
