zeke and I spend a ton of time learning to ride dirt bikes, safely. I watch countless videos on techniques and draw off of personal riding experiences to help coach him on good riding techniques that help him to be a safe rider, it's our belief that riding can be relatively safe when taught how to control the bike in numerous scenarios. Not only will safe riding improve but also his overall skill abd speed. we work tirelessly to develop good techniques and habits to be prepared for a safe ride day or race day.
in this video we trying to simulate the feeling of outside peg pressure, we've not really talked too much about the when and how, just that it's a overall heavily used technique to corner, especially in flat lor low traction corners. a rider may think the weight or pressure is there but with this drill/test we can see if the rider knows how to intentionally put more ore less pressure on the peg.
we leaned the big against our garage door and refined his technique as we attempted it.
he is not very focused. but you can hear and tell I am....this could be a frustrating moment for any instructor or parent but doing it in small time frames over multiple days can help overcome short attention or distracted learners. I intentionally don't allow frustrating circumstances to upset the big goal of fun safe riding and sometimes you have to be willing to move on for the time being abd try again later.
here zeke shows a willingness to try the test/drill but not so focused. we managed a few seconds of a good attempt abd that's enough for us today. with more routine of this same test his focus and execution is likely to improve. be patient and innovative with your young riders. make it into games or short sessions adapt as their skill and maturity and dedication allows.
