Singing raga alapana is always close to my heart. Whenever I immerse myself in singing an alapana I feel that it brings me closer to my gurus Trivandrum R.S Mani and Trivandrum R. Venkatraman.

I have recorded the raga alapana in the ragam Shanmukhapriya as a fitting ode to them

Visalakshi Nityanand is a Carnatic Musician, performer, and teacher based in India. From 2018 to 2021 she was a cultural ambassador for the Indian high commission in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
In her ongoing journey she has spread her deep knowledge of South Indian classical music across the globe spanning different branches of Carnatic Music including the typical kutcheri format, lengthy raga alapanas, authentic renditions of popular songs and spiritual music. She also specializes in music from great composers like Sri Thyagaraja, Mudduswami Dikshitar, Syama Sastri, Purandaradasa, Arunagirinathar, and Swati Thirunal.
She has a passion for passing on her knowledge to eager learners and has students from several countries like USA, UK, France, Singapore, Malaysia, and India.
