A series of car bombs has exploded across the Iraqi capital Baghdad leaving nearly 60 people dead.
The blasts struck in seven different districts, mainly Shi'ite, as people were out shopping or having dinner in the early evening.
The deadliest single blast took place in the northern Talbiya neighbourhood, where a car bomb in a busy street killed nine people.
In the Hussainiya district on the northern outskirts of the capital, two car bombs exploded one after the other, killing ten.
Another seven people were shot dead by gunmen in the south of the city.
No group claimed immediate responsibility, but the attacks appeared to be the work of Sunni Islamist militants linked to al Qaeda.
