The project to form a breakaway league fell apart on Tuesday night as Manchester City and Chelsea began the exodus, before Arsenal, Liverpool, Manchester United and Tottenham all made statements confirming their departure later on.
Their confirmations came after 48 hours of widespread condemnation of the proposals from supporters groups, pundits and even some players and managers including James Milner and Pep Guardiola.
