Millenaar: 'Most energy-efficient company building in the Netherlands' - Energy-neutral and efficient realized complex Agrifac.
The new business complex of Agrifac Machinery B.V.in Steenwijk has been realized in three phases according to an architectural design by B + O. At each stage a part of the factory was demolished, after which a larger hall was built. The 8000 square meters of before have been enlarged with an area of 6,000 square meters, but the whole is also more efficiently arranged.
There was such a coordination between the main contractor Rottinghuis and the other contractors of, among other things, the demolition work and installations, that the construction work could have continued without interruptions and the inconvenience was kept to a minimum.
"We are very satisfied with the result," says CEO Peter Millenaar. "Our new factory is the most energy-efficient company building in our country. It is four times as energy efficient than before. We no longer use gas and our roofs have 5000 square meters of solar panels. As a result, we generate even more energy than we use ourselves. '
Sustainability is therefore emphatic and applied as much as possible. After the building has been assessed in nine different categories, the so-called Breeam sustainability quality mark has been granted to Agrifac. LED lighting has been installed throughout the building and beyond.
Millenaar proudly calculates an extension of the whole from 2.7 hectares to 4.1 hectares.
