A museum full of memories of George Jones will be opening in time for the second anniversary of his death.
Nancy Jones, George Jones' widow, announced Monday that the George Jones Museum will open the weekend of April 24.
The museum will be housed in the old Graham Central Station building at 128 Second Ave. N.
"George Jones was not just a name Nashville and country music recognized. His name in music is recognized worldwide by artists and fans of all music,” said Nancy Jones. “With that in mind, it made creating the world-class George Jones Museum much easier.”
According to a release, the museum will tell the story of the singer, born Sept. 12, 1931, in Saratoga, TX.
Fans will be able to look into his life like never before, getting to see the music legend's clothes, guitars, pictures and much more.
The museum will house a gift shop, a restaurant, an event space and a music venue.
Exhibits will show his development from his childhood to singing as a teenager on the streets of Galveston. There will also be documentation of his time spent serving as a U.S. Marine and as a radio announcer for a Jasper, TX, station. Exhibits will also display stages of his music career.
