Cracks are inevitable and will form in every asphalt driveway over some time. The rate at which cracks form and/or expand relates heavily to the structural integrity of the existing asphalt layer, surrounding water flow, and freeze/thaw cycles through the winter. You can not stop cracks from occurring, but they can be maintained by using commercial grade materials such as hot rubberized tar.
