There have been roughly 313,000 sunsets since Birmingham was first granted a Market Charter in 1166. But you can bet your bottom dollar that at closing time people will have always been on the hunt for end of day bargains.
And so it proved when BirminghamLive popped down to see the current Bull Ring Open Market in action at its 5.30pm closing time. With the light fading rapidly outside, we really were stepping into the 'twilight zone'.
