By 2050 there’s set to be more plastic in our oceans than fish. It's why the EU has voted to ban single use plastic items ranging from cutlery to cups and straws. But does it go far enough to clean up the quantity of plastic polluting our water? Or is demonising plastic merely a strawman? Sandra Gathmann reports.
