(8 Apr 2017) Around 230 migrants were on Thursday rescued from two boats in the Mediterranean Sea by members of the Spanish NGO (non-governmental organisation) Proactiva Open Arms.
The rescues were made around 56 miles (90 kilometres) off the coast of Libya.
Those rescued were transferred to the Proactiva vessel Golfo Azzurro and were brought to Italy's Trapani harbour.
Upon arrival on Saturday, the migrants, mostly from Eritrea, received medical checks.
Ten women, one of them pregnant, were among the rescued.
